Use of English words/Language is so evident and growing day by day and this has replaced the use of many of the kannada terms/ words. and many of the of Kannada commonly used words/terminologies are replaced by English words. 

Many times we will not know the exact translation and we will searching for the kannada words. I have tried to gather few of the word translations in this article. Hope this will be useful for many of them !!

Rangana thittu pakshi dhama in Mysore

Rangana Thittu also famously known as 'Pakshi kashi', is a bird sanctuary located in Mandya district Karnataka, located around 130 km away from Bangalore. and if you are coming from Mysore, it's just around 19km away and 3km away from Srirangapatna. It is lying on the bank of River Kaveri and is home for most of the birds.

It is spread in around 40 acres of area and is said to be the largest bird sanctuary in Karnataka   

If you are planning to visit Mysore and places around, then this is one of the must-watch places.and it's a perfect destination for Bird lovers.

Some of the birds that you can spot here are shag, white ibis, Little Egret, little cormorant, open-billed stork, Spoonbills, painted stork, White Ibis, river tern, Darter, Peafowl, Pond Heron, Wild Duck, large cormorant, heron, great stone plover, kingfisher, Cattle Egret, the lesser whistling teal, Indian cliff swallow Great Stone Plover, River Tern, of Streak-throated Swallows and many more.

Along with all sorts of birds, this place also is a home for animals like crocodiles, monitor lizards, mongooses, otters, and others in the river.

The entry fee for this bird sanctuary is 50rs for Indians and 300rs for Foreigners and there is a boating facility available in this place to watch the birds nested. 

For Boating too it costs around 50rs for Indians and 300rs for Foreigners.  The boating and nature around it definitely can be awesome and unforgettable experiences for nature and bird lovers.

MM Hills - Male Mahadeswara Hills| Male Mahadeshwara betta | Beautiful hills in Karnataka | Road trip places around Karnataka

MM hills and temple:

MM Hills is one of the famous piligrim place which is located in Hanur Taluk, Chamaraja Nagar district in Karnataka. Its located around 200 kms away from Bangalore, and from Mysore its 150 kms away.

According to historical evidences, people say that Sri mahadeshwara swami lived there and  he used Tiger 'huli vahana' as his vehicle.  Mahadeswara swami Travelled through the hills and the surroundings areas, and by his yogi powers has displayed his various miracles and solved many problem of peop.

His miracles are best told by local village people in form of Sri mahadeswara swami janapada songs and many are famous all over karnataka.

Who havent listen to the famous song..."Maadeswara daya baarade, baridada baalalli barabaarade.."!!

It is still belived that Mahadeswara swami who came to perform atonement and is still living in garbha gudi in the form of Linga

Kamsale nrutya  is dedicated to Lord Mahadeswara in the temple and its very nice to watch the performances during any festival times.

Apart from whatever piligrim image it has, ride to the MM Hills is a awesome road trip experience with the Hilly greenaries welcoming us and the pleasant nature. One who loves long pleasant and peaceful long drive can consider this also as one among their destination place

During Shivaratri and other festivals:

During Shivaratri, Mahalaya amavasya festivals Temple will be very crowed as many local and around people come to worship god there and big fair will be conducted. It is feast for eyes to watch the celebration during those festivals and one must not forget also that it will be over crowded. 

One can witness the unique, regional celebrations here and can witness the people's believes on God Shiva.

During festival time, many local people come to the temple walking with bare footed from hundreds of kilometer far villages, carrying the bag with food and necessary items on their head. they will be so devoted people who doesnt care about hot sun, and any obstacles in the roads. We happen to many people who were walking bare footed and they never feel tired/and it has become their custom or ritual for some of them 

Forest is assumed to have wild animals like elephants, deers, wild pigs and Tigers too.

Now I dont know if any people witnessed seeing any animal,but we have watched many moneys welcoming us whole through the Hill and in the temple.

and many small hills like 'Nagamale' are also piligrim places but have to trek to reach to that places.

and need to take local Tribal people help for travel guidance and if at all want to stay that night there.  

MM Hills Forest: has many small hills in the folk songs they say there is around 77 small hills in there(they say 77 male in kannada)..and its dry forest and the area itself is too hot compared to any hilly places and forest because its located at equal level compared to sea level.

Meaning: For a person standing on one side, the other side always looks nice and attractive. He thinks that there is no difficulty in another path. Until he walks the other path, he will not know the truth. 

Maniddunno maharaya
ಮಾಡಿದ್ದುಣ್ಣೋ ಮಹರಾಯ

Meaning: For whatever action we do, there is an equivalent reaction. If we do anything wrong, we need to face the consequences for that.




Kai kesaradare bayi mosaru
ಕೈ ಕೆಸರಾದರೆ ಬಾಯಿ ಮೊಸರು

Meaning: Every hard work pays. If you are ready to make your hand dirty/if you are ready to do hard work to achieve your goals, you will receive the rewards for it.



Bellagiruvudella halalla
ಬೆಳ್ಳಗಿರುವುದೆಲ್ಲ ಹಾಲಲ್ಲ

Meaning: From outer looks or sight, we cant say the true behavior of anything. If its a white liquid, it might not be a milk. 

Meaning in Kannada: ಮೇಲ್ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾವುದರ ಗುಣವೂ ತಿಳಿಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಬಿಳಿಯಾಗಿ ಇರುವುದೆಲ್ಲ ಹಾಲು ಎಂದು ನಂಬ ಬಾರದು.

ಅಂಗೈ ಹುಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡಿ ಯಾಕೆ

Meaning: we dont need a mirror to show the facts which is very evident. If we know that something is bad, we dont need somebody's words a proof to tell them that they are bad.   

Hani hani koodidare halla, thene thene koodidare balla
ಹನಿ ಹನಿ ಕೂಡಿದರೆ ಹಳ್ಳ, ತೆನೆ ತೆನೆ ಕೂಡಿದರೆ ಬಳ್ಳ

Meaning: Every drop of water contributes to the formation of pond/lake, likewise every small contribution of work can help in completing any kind of task. 

Hasige iddastu kaalu chachu
ಹಾಸಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದಷ್ಟು ಕಾಲು ಚಾಚು

Meaning: we need to be content with whatever we have in our life. we shouldn't be greedy and get in trouble because of that


Kankulalli koosu hididukondu oorella hudukidanthe
ಕಂಕುಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಸು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಊರೆಲ್ಲ ಹುಡುಕಿದಂತೆ

Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens

Zoo Garden in Mysore is one of the must watch important place if you ever visit Mysore and and it is around 157 acres of land and is one of the old and famous zoo in India.


How do you reach Zoo Garden:

Whenever you enter Mysore, Zoo garden is near to the bus stand and one can get Autos, Tangas(Horse rides), or even City Buses to reach to the place. 


There are many kinds of animals resides here like Tiger, Lion, Monkey, Gorilla, Chimpanzee, Elephant, Crocodiles, Snakes, Turtles, Fishes, Deers, buffaloes, wild dog, bird varieties like Mecaw, Parrots, Peacocks and many more varieties of animals are kept and maintained in the zoo.

There are so many peacocks in the zoo and You can also see that few of the peacocks have left to roam around free as the have many more in counts. and its obviously feast to your eyes !! 


Among them zoo attractions are Giraffe, Elephant, White Tiger, White peacock, Cheetah, Lion, Gorilla.

If Kids are there with you then you should definitely plan to visit the zoo and they will definitely enjoy the trip.there is zoo vehicle facility to travel inside the zoo and see the animal for the older and  people who cannot walk much.

You cannot carry plastics,any kinds of food packed in plastic like biscuits inside. and there will be strict monitoring and checking while entering the zoo. We preferred to keep all our eatables and juice  bottels in our vehicle and only carried steel water bottles. there will be also water facility inside the zoo. There are hotels and bakeries inside the zoo which is bit costlier.

To use camera's you need to pay and buy ticket along with entry tickets.

Once you enter the zoo, a big horn like sounding Mecaws, white feathered peacocks, and blue feathered peacocks will welcome and also will give you excitement if you are first timer. and at the end, Giraffes will say bye to you with their long strectched necks and remain forever as memories of the zoo


How much time do you need in Zoo Garden:

If you decide walk by yourself and watch all the animals relaxly, you will need a entire day time to watch all the animal. If you have limited time and cannot walk much then there are are mini travel facility which takes you around the Zoo


Plan to enter the zoo early as you need quiet a good amount of time to cover the entire places in Zoo..
