BR Hills | Biligiri Rangana Betta | Beautiful Hills in Karnataka | Places to visit in Karnataka | Hilly places in Karnataka

Entry point in BR Hills

Biligiri Rangana Betta is famously known and called as BR Hills, is a hilly range located in south-eastern karnataka. This area is also called as BRT wild life sanctuary. its a protected reserve forest area. Hill top has Beautiful ancient BIligiri Ranganatha Temple because of which this area got the name as BR Hills

The hills is in Yelandur,  Chamarajanagar District of Karnataka. this place is around 90 kilometres from Mysore and 160 kilometres from Bangalore.

Even for a long drive from Mysore/Bangalore or for a pleasant and peaceful stay BR Hills is a good destination place. BR hills are a good place for viewing many other large and small animals. There are about 26 species of mammals recorded in the sanctuary. when you go for a drive you can see  deers, sambhar peacocks, the shy barking deer,Gaur, Elephants and some birds on the way.

Once you go to the top, hill is covered with Cold breeze and fog and its an breathtaking delightful view for the nature lovers.and ancient Lord Biliri Ranganatha swamy Temple is there. people here believe that genuine prayers will be fulfilled. Lord Ranganatha swamy is also one form Lord Krishna or Vishnu. Temple is open from 7am-2pm and 4pm-8pm

Fog covered view near the temple area:

there are lot of monkeys near the temple, so be careful when you carry your belongings with you.

You can find only 1 hotel for food(hotel giri darshini) here and you get normal karnatak style food here and food is also is costly. if you plan to stay here also there many good resorts here, but they are costly. there are govt constructed rooms are also available, but quality is little compromised and also you need to have some reference to book the rooms here.

This place is connected to K Gudi forest area, its approximately 30km drive from BR Hills in the deep forest. so we drove to that K Gudi reserver forest area too and we were lucky to spot some Gaurs on the way. after 6pm you cannot drive in the forest area. so plan your visit accordingly if you havent booked any stay there.
